3. LAMP REPLACEMENT

3.1 Lamp replacement warnings

Warnings

• Be c areful not to drop the lamp ﬁ xing sc rews into the inside of the projector. Don’t put a metal piece or ﬂ ammable object into t he

projector. U sing the projector with any foreign o bject p resent inside m a y result in electric shock or ﬁre. When you can’t remove

the foreign object from the inside, contact y our dealer for removal.

• Do not touch the lamp with bare hands or give a shock to the lamp . Attach the lamp properly. Improper handling m ay cause

explosion.

• Be sure to install the lam p s ecure ly. W hen the lamp isn’t installed p roperly, it w on’t illuminate. Improper installation may also

result in ﬁre.

• Don’t shake the remove d lamp or don’t lift it above your face. You may be injured in your eye by ﬂying or falling glass fragments.

• Don’t replace the lamp immediately after use because the lamp cover is very hot. You may get b urned. Turn off the pow er

using the PO W E R key. After the lamp goes out, wait about 2 minutes until the intake and exhaust fans for cooling the lamp

stop rotating. Then unplug the power cord, and wait at least 1 hour to allow the lamp to cool down enough to the touch.

3.2 Interval of lamp replacement

About the lamp

This projector is equipped with 2 lamps to project im ages. This lamp is a c onsum able. It may burn out or its brightness m ay decrease

during use. In such cases, r eplace the lam p with a new one as soon a

s possible. B e s ure to r eplace the lamp with a new lamp

separately sold that is exclusive to this projector. C ontact your dealer f or purchase of the lamp.

Spare lamp: H LAMP 350W

About la mp re placement interval

The recommended interval of lamp replacement is abo ut 4000 hours

of c onsecutive us e. Such interval differs de pending on the

operating environment and may be shorter t han 4000 hours

. D ecrease in luminescence and/or c olor brightness indicates that the

lamp nee ds to be replaced. When the lamp operation time exceeds 3000 hours

, the lamp replacement mess age will appear on

the screen for 1 minute everytime the lamp is turned on. When the lamp has been used for about 3800 hours

, the replacement

message (IT’S TIME F O R L AM P * REPLACE ME NT) will appe ar on the screen for 1 minute e very 20 hours

thereafter. W hen the

lamp operation time exceeds 40 00 hours

, the projector automatically shuts off.

Caution

• Don’t remove the lamp for any purpose other

than replacement. Unnecessary removal of the lamp may result in a breakdown.

• This projector uses a high-pressure mercury lamp as the light s ource. The high-pressure mercury lamp m ay explode or fail

to illuminate permanently because of an impact, scratch, or deterioration through use. The per iod of time until explosion or

permanent failure to illuminate varies considerably from lamp to lamp, dep ending on operation conditions. Therefore, the lam p

may explode soon after the s tart of use.

• The possibility of explos ion of the lamp increases if you use it beyond its replacement period. When the instruction of lamp

replacement appear s, replace it with a new one imm ediately even if the lamp is still lighting norm ally.

• W hen the high-pressure mercury lamp explodes, glass fragm ents w ill scatter inside or outside the lam p box and the gas charged

inside the lamp will diffuse inside or outside the projector. The gas inside the lamp contains mercury. Be careful not to breathe

it or avoid it from entering your ey e or m outh. If you should breathe it or if it s hould enter y our eye or mouth, see a doctor

immediately.

• In the event that the high-pressure mercury lamp exploded, glass fragments may have been scattered inside the projector. Ask

your dealer to replace the lam p

and to inspect the inside of the projector. When you clean or replace the lamp by yourself, be

sure to hold the handle of t he lam p. You may get injured by glass fragments.

• W hen r emov ing the lamp from the ceiling-mounted projector, use the lamp replacem ent tray packed with the projector or option

lamp to prevent glas s fragments from scattering.

• Be sure to use the lamp ex clusive to this projector, H LA MP 350W. Use of other lamps may cau se a failure o f the projector.

Before replacing the lamp

Check which lamp is to be replaced using the INFO me nu in the OSD Lite menu.

1. Duration when LAMP MODE of the INSTALLATION 1 menu is set to LOW. When it is set to STANDARD, this duration will be shorted.

2. When LAMP MODE is set to STANDARD, this duration will be shorted to 2000 hours.
